2 Million Fedora Core 6 Installs
Spevack (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MaxSpevackMax) reports in his blog (http://spevack.livejournal.com/11416.html):
So somewhere in the last hour or two, we hit the 2 million mark on Fedora Core 6 installations. Congrats to the whole Fedora community.
While we're on the topic of metrics, I'd like to point people at Smolt, a project being led by Mike McGrath that is a basic hardware profiler for Fedora.
Fedora Core 6 Linux Eclipses 2M User Mark
internetnews.com (http://www.internetnews.com/dev-news/article.php/3663951) also reports:
Red Hat's Fedora Core 6 Linux distribution has reached another big milestone, racking up two million installed users barely two months after tallying 1 million installed users.
"That's really ultimately the point that we're trying to do with our metrics with Fedora," Spevack said. "We want convincing numbers for people that want to talk about the size of the Linux world."
Talking points for Fedora 7 release
Karsten Wade (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/KarstenWade) reports in the fedora-marketing-list (http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-marketing-list/2007-March/msg00042.html):
We are going to try something new and exciting for the Fedora 7 release announcement that is traditionally written in only in English.
The plan is for us to write up a list of "talking points" by collaborating on fedora-marketing-list (under this thread), and on the Wiki[1]. Local country/region teams then write up their own announcement, following a simple process that includes vetting the quality of the content.
Fedora Infrastructure needs your help!
Mike McGrath (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MikeMcGrath) reports in his blog (http://mmcgrath.livejournal.com/2064.html):
As always the infrastructure team can use your help. If you're a programmer smolt can use some more love, if you're an admin let me know we have a lot of things to get in order. Infrastructure is a great way to give back to the Fedora Project.
Fedora 7 and the wireless world
Josh Boyer (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/JoshBoyer) reports in his blog (http://jdub.homelinux.org/wordpress/?p=10):
The current rawhide kernel has John Linville’s wireless-dev tree. That means that the d80211 stack, and a quite a few new drivers for wireless cards are in there. Work is also underway by Jeremy and Bill to get some of the redistributable firmware included in the repositories. Overall, this should mean a big boost in wireless functionality for Fedora.

Ambassadors Report: Chemnitz LinuxTag
ChitleshGoorah (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ChitleshGoorah) reports in his blog (http://clunixchit.blogspot.com/2007/03/chemnitz-linuxtag-my-report.html):
Last Weekend, We (JoergSimon, JensKühnel and I) were at Chemnitz Linuxtag. Chemnitz LinuxTag is the best organized linux event, I've ever seen. Booth Personals were well taken care of during the whole event by the organizers.
Review: Fedora 7 Test 2
triedit.org (http://www.triedit.org/review/review-fedora-7-test-2/) reports:
Fedora 7 Test 2 looked nice with its theme and desktop wallpaper. Most of the included applications did work fine, but Abiword didn’t. Considering this is a pre-release version of the OS the applications that didn’t work will no doubt be fixed before the final release.
Security Week in Review 2007-03-04
Josh Bressers (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/JoshBressers) reports in his blog (http://www.bress.net/blog/archives/57-Security-Week-in-Review-2007-03-04.html):
This week was mostly slow. We're getting geared up for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 release, so the lull in vulnerabilities was welcome. Fedora 7 is also on the horizon. I need to start getting the pieces in place for the Fedora Security Response Team. There is technically a team, but it's rather unorganized right now. Fedora 7 will be the first Fedora release to sport its very own security team. I'll fill in the details as they become available.
